Automating Public Urinal Hygiene: A Case Study of Sanizeene Solutions and Geetanjali Government P.G. Girls College, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

Sanizeene Solutions developed Suchiqar, a patented automated urinal disinfection system designed to improve hygiene in public and shared sanitation facilities while reducing reliance on conventional flushing and manual intervention.

Through its first government pilot at Geetanjali Government Girls P.G. College in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Sanizeene deployed two Suchiqar units across seven urinals to address persistent odour and inconsistent flushing in a high-use institutional setting.

The six-month pilot provided an opportunity to test the technology in a real-world government environment, generating insights into user behaviour, site-specific requirements, installation and operational performance. The pilot reported nearly 30,000 litres of water saved compared with conventional flushing and helped demonstrate the potential for automated, touch-free urinal hygiene.

The initial deployment also created a reference point for engagement with other government educational institutions. Sanizeene reports receiving two additional government girls’ college references and subsequently deploying further pilot systems, bringing its reported total to 12 Suchiqar devices across its pilots to date.

The case study explores the opportunities and challenges of scaling sanitation innovation through public-sector partnerships, including the importance of user orientation, site customisation, installation efficiency and enabling procurement pathways.
